During my time as editor-in-chief, I helped spearhead the creation of a 76-paged magazine, both digital and print. I cross-collaborated with business and creative divisions to make the visuals and promote it, while measuring top performing articles on our site
The goal was to create a cohesive look and story for the spring magazine — each section had a story. My Managing Editor and I sifted through 300+ pitches and put together each section.
Then, we worked with the creative team to develop visuals which supplemented the articles. Throughout this process, I reviewed drafts and sent feedback — both for editorial and creative — and I also chose the section openers and cover star.
After establishing a complete timeline of the project and its steps, I shared with the creative and business divisions to edit based on their needs. The example I'm showing is an article checklist I created, so that the creative director had access to my editors' progress. This way, the creative team wouldn't need to wait until we finished, they could work on placing the finished articles in tandem.
In addition to putting together the articles in magazine, I also wrote the cover story and letter from the editor. Between interviewing, writing, and reviewing, I made sure to stay on task and follow the deadlines.
